Reaching Goals Sooner Than Expected!

On a previous post, Small Business Goals,  I wrote about setting my sights on a long term goal of participating in the 2024 local Farmer’s Market!

However, sometime in May, I went ahead and created a vendor account for myself (because, why not?! Right!? What’s the harm signing up now?…Signing up is zero cost! There is no commitment! Let’s just do it!) with full intention of not completing the second portion of the application which was submitting photos of my craft work!

Did I self sabotage myself in this case? MMMmmm? Maybe?

Well…. a city representative took notice of my incomplete application!  I received an email on June 6 requesting to complete the second portion of the farmer’s market application; more specifically to submit photos of my leis!

So, of course, my brain had to over internalize this email and plagued myself with a gazillion “Should I” questions:

Should I ignore this email request? Should I? Or Should I not submit craft photos?

Should I politely decline the city’s request and put it off for 2024 as fully intended as previously mentioned prior?

Very quickly, my brain swiftly shifted into YOLO MODE!!! Why wait for 2024?

My excitable conscience whispering like a loud boombox, chanting: DO IT ! DO IT! DO IT!

So, I did it! I went ahead and submitted photos of my leis !!!!! (What’s the worst that could happen? My application getting rejected?)

Less than 24 hours I got the official stamp of approval to be a participating farmer’s market vendor. After a celebratory cheese burger and fries, I got busy…created a much necessary excel spreadsheet of everything I needed and where to purchase such items, and things I already had:

Academy Sporting Goods

  • 10 x 10 pop up canopy (approved canopy size)

Home Depot

  • Sand bags x 2 for canopy sand bags

Walmart

  • Cash box
  • Receipt log

Officemax

  • Store banner

Vista Print

  • Business Cards

Amazon

  • Display shelf
  • Canopy sand bags
  • Peg hooks for canopy
  • Plastic shopping bags

Walmart

  • Cash box
  • Receipt book

Items readily available at home

  • Product tags for product description and price
  • Hole punchers
  • pens
  • twine
  • trash can
  • foldable table
  • personal fan
  • batteries for personal fan
  • sewing measuring tape
  • scissors

Everyday is a work in progress, scratching items off this list! It looks like I will be an official vendor, maybe at the end of June or beginning of July! This is truly exciting! Taking my online store into the community will definitely be an experience! Let’s see how it goes!

  1. I know the feeling of YOLO! I did that when I filled out an application to become a vendor for my very first Fall Festival. Whew! What a rush of excitement and nervousness! Congratulations!
